What kinds of transit signage and shelters does LNI provide?

LNI designs and fabricates custom shelter structures, station identification signs, wayfinding totems, real‑time information sign supports, and ancillary hardware for bus, rail, and BRT systems. We work from agency standards and engineering documents to deliver integrated signage and shelter packages for new lines, corridor upgrades, and system‑wide refresh programs.

Can you meet ADA and accessibility requirements for transit signage?

Yes. LNI is experienced with ADA and local accessibility standards for transit environments, including legible typography, contrast, tactile and Braille elements, mounting heights, and clearances. We fabricate signs and structures that conform to your accessibility design manual and can coordinate with your internal ADA or accessibility teams during submittals and reviews.

Can LNI match our existing transit signage standards manual?

We routinely fabricate to agency standards, including specific sign families, panel sizes, mounting hardware, colors, and typography. Our team reviews your signage design manual, detail sheets, and specifications, then engineers fabrication methods and materials that preserve the look of your system while meeting structural and durability requirements.

How does LNI coordinate bus stop and shelter installations with active service?

Transit projects often require phasing to avoid disrupting service. We work with your operations, construction, and communications teams to sequence fabrication and installation by route, corridor, or zone, and to plan any necessary temporary signage or detours. The goal is to complete upgrades while keeping riders informed and service running smoothly.

How does LNI support county and city public works projects?

LNI partners with public works departments on transportation, streetscape, and civic infrastructure projects that need custom signage, shelters, and structural sign supports. We stay involved from design coordination and value engineering through fabrication, quality control, and field installation, with a focus on public safety and long service life.

Are you familiar with public procurement and capital project requirements?

Yes. We understand public‑sector procurement, including competitive bidding, documentation, bonding and insurance requirements, and adherence to project specifications and codes. Our team regularly works with project managers, inspectors, and third‑party engineers on shop drawings, RFIs, and closeout packages

What should a public agency look for in a signage and shelter fabricator?

Agencies benefit from partners who can read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings, provide calculations when required, and deliver proven materials and finishes for outdoor environments. It is also important that the fabricator can coordinate logistics around busy streets, sidewalks, and public spaces with safety as a priority.

How does LNI work with general contractors and design‑build teams?

LNI acts as a specialty fabricator on transportation and infrastructure jobs, responding to bid documents, supporting budgeting and value engineering, and developing shop drawings and samples. We coordinate closely with your project team so our fabrication, deliveries, and field support align with the overall schedule and construction sequencing.

What information do you need to price and schedule a project?

For the most accurate pricing and scheduling, we typically look for architectural and civil drawings, sign and shelter schedules, finish and performance requirements, and any structural criteria or design loads. That level of detail allows us to develop realistic budgets and timelines and flag any items that may need clarification before award. However, LNI can also advise on specifications when formal documents do not yet exist, and help you define the appropriate technical criteria as things progress.

How do you handle shop drawings, engineering, and approvals?

Our team prepares detailed shop drawings showing dimensions, materials, connections, and finishes for review by the design team and owner. When necessary, we coordinate with licensed engineers for calculations and stamped drawings, and manage mockups, samples, and revisions to keep approvals moving. We also consider relevant AISC and ASTM standards in our detailing and material selections to help ensure compliance with industry best practices. LNI is AISC licensed and all of our drawings conform to AISC detailing standards.

Can LNI provide accessible signage for visitors with disabilities?

Yes. We fabricate accessible signage with appropriate letter heights, high contrast, tactile characters, and Braille where required, and we pay attention to mounting locations, clearances, and lighting. The goal is to make the campus navigable for as many users as possible.

Can our signage program be updated over time without replacing every sign?

We often design modular systems that allow inserts, panels, or graphics to be updated while main structures remain in place. This is ideal for campuses where departments, room numbers, or routes may change and you want to avoid complete replacement.

Can you fabricate from custom architectural or industrial design concepts?

Yes. LNI works from design intent drawings, 3D models, and performance specifications to develop buildable solutions. We aim to preserve the design vision while making sure the final product can be manufactured, installed, and maintained effectively.

When should a signage and shelter fabricator be brought into a project?

The best outcomes come when a fabricator is involved during design development or detailing. Early collaboration helps avoid conflicts with structure and utilities, keeps materials aligned with budget, and reduces the need for redesign later.

What file types and information do you accept from designers?

We can work from common CAD and BIM formats along with vector artwork for graphics. For each project we’ll confirm preferred formats, and we ask for clear information on dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and performance criteria.

How do LNI’s preconstruction service help?

In preconstruction, we review your early designs and standards with a builder’s perspective to make sure shelters, poles, and sign structures will work in the field. That includes looking at foundations, clearances, accessibility details, and materials so issues are resolved before you finalize bid documents or launch multiple corridors. We also look at it from a buildability standpoint. Ensuring the materials & shapes called out are realistic from a fabrication standpoint. To go even further, we ensure that the product, as it’s drawn, is realistic to ship, how to ship it, propose alternative methods to maximize shipping efficiency, which will ultimately effect the installation process. All tailored to the specific project scope.

How do preconstruction improve cost and scheduling?

Early input lets us recommend materials and fabrication methods with realistic lead times, and flag details that could be difficult or expensive to build, ship and install. Adjusting those elements before bid can avoid change orders, reduce field rework, and make it easier to hit opening dates for new lines or service changes.
